What your students will learn:

1) What life was like for different people during the Victorian era, including wealthy families, servants, factory workers and children.

2) How the Victorian period was a time of huge change, with inventions, industry and new ways of living transforming Britain.

3) How everyday life in Victorian Britain compares with life today, exploring clothing, homes, jobs, schooling and leisure through drama and discussion.

Performance techniques they’ll be using:

1) Children will wear special time travelling goggles and, through music and movement, journey back to the Victorian era. Through role play, characterisation and imaginative storytelling, they will explore everyday Victorian life by stepping into the shoes of a range of historical characters and bringing the past to life.

2) They will use role play, and freeze frames to explore different viewpoints and experiences from Victorian society.

3) Working collaboratively, they will devise and perform short scenes inspired by Victorian life.
